F.E.A.S.T. FRAMEWOORK
Read With Purpose. Identify the Focus. Choose the Best Answer.
CNA written exam questions often contain extra details, unfamiliar wording, and answer choices that all seem correct. The F.E.A.S.T. Framework™ gives students a practical strategy for breaking down questions, identifying what is truly being asked, and selecting the best response.
Using an easy-to-remember meal analogy, students learn to recognize:
- The Appetizer: The information that introduces the resident, setting, or situation.
- The Entrée: The main focus of the question—what the student must identify, prioritize, or solve.
- The Dessert: The tempting answer choices that may sound familiar but do not always address the question’s central focus.
Through focus words, context clues, prioritization, and purposeful reasoning, the F.E.A.S.T. Framework™ helps students look beyond memorized facts and begin thinking like safe, competent nursing assistants.
Designed for CNA students, instructors, and training programs, this framework can be used during classroom instruction, exam review, tutoring, remediation, or independent study. It is especially helpful for students who struggle with reading comprehension, test anxiety, distracting information, or choosing between similar answer options.
The F.E.A.S.T. Framework™ helps learners slow down, understand the context, recognize common testing traps, and approach each question with greater confidence.
Stop guessing at the answer. Find the Entrée—and focus on what matters most.
